“American Nomad is an award-winning blues-Americana quartet from the Washington, DC area that grooves. Smart songwriting, strong musicianship, and a danceable live show have earned American Nomad the reputation of a “foot-stomping” musical act that can intrigue audiences with a wide variety of music tastes. Their music draws inspiration from the spirit of travel and authentic life experience.”

Traditional jazz at it’s finest this side of the Mississippi, the Conservatory Classic Jazz Band has been performing authentic, traditional, New Orleans Jazz for more than 2 decades in the D.C. area.

A homecoming like no other, Marcel Penzes began his musical career by “sitting in” with this ensemble, learning from masters of New Orleans music every month, where the classroom and the stage became one in the same! Now, Penzes returns as a member of the ensemble as a “grown up musician” (…if there is such a thing!), ready to reunite with his mentors in a performance like no other!

“Directed by renowned trumpeter Sean Jones, Chair of Jazz Studies at Peabody, the Graduate Jazz Ensemble (GJE) is a brand-new ensemble comprising recipients of Peabody’s Graduate Jazz Fellowship. This ensemble focuses on community-engaged artistry to develop expressive, flexible, creative, and collaborative musicians who are deeply invested in making an impact with their art. GJE provides developing artists with a platform to compose and perform original works, while gaining experience in roles of leadership and giving back to the community as educational artists. Be sure to join us as we welcome them to Emmanuel for a diverse — and fun! — program of jazz!
